Picture This:

A Ranch tucked in the hills with a spring fed creek running through the yard, out the bottom corral and on down to the river. A swimming hole 80 ft. from the house. A large hip roof barn with a dance floor upstairs, 3 round pens and an arena, a shop and a ranch style house set under a large stand of beautiful spruce trees. Along the creek just north of the barn, two log cabins nestled in the hills under both black and white poplars, deer feeding along the creek and beaver building dams every evening. This is the country we ride and work horses in.

We are within 13 miles of the nearest town, population 500, when everyone is home. We are 1½ miles from the North Saskatchewan River and 3 miles from the Lea Park regional campground, which hosts a pro rodeo, a golf course, fishing and camping.

Who we are and what we do.

A&C Ranch Services, Marwayne, Alberta, owned by Allan & Christine Brown and family, is a working horse ranch nestled along the North Saskatchewan River. We are situated 160 miles east of Edmonton, Alberta, 20 miles west of the Saskatchewan, Alberta border and approximately 400 miles north of the US border. We are situated in semi arid cattle country with between 10 and 18 inches of moisture per year.

We are a well-established horse training facility, with many years of experience. We train horses for guest ranches, outfitters, logging companies, recreational riders, police forces, movies and general use. We train 30 to 40 horses a year and have sold horses all over North America; as far North as Anchorage, Alaska and the northern Yukon to as far south as Los Angeles California. We train both saddle horses and teams. Basically most every horse we train is broke to drive first. We ride in scenic country with good footing, a variety of terrain and challenges for any class of rider. We are in an area where the terrain can change from open fields to river hills and from aspen forest to scrub brush or spruce and jack pine forests. Variety is not a problem.

A Typical Day at A & C Horse Ranch

A typical day at our place: Every day some things change, others stay the same. Every morning you will get to see 30 to 40 horses come in for the day. They are then sorted and penned. Depending on weather and customers preference for that day, decisions are made as to which ones we are working. Some colts are tied up, some are tied in the barn, others moved to round pens and some saddled. If it is a day to drive teams we sort them and start harnessing. Most any day you will see the progress as a colt is started in the round pen another is worked in the arena and another is moved out on the trails.

The day usually progresses with a 2 to 3 hour ride before lunch and then a different group of colts after lunch. We ride until about 5 pm and then do chores before supper.

After supper most days your time is your own, rest up for the next day, sit around the campfire or get involved in what everyone else is doing. This could be anything from going for a swim, a hike, going riding, golfing or resting so you can go moonlight riding. Up here in the summer in Northern Canada our days are long with only a few hours of darkness. If you plan on staying awake every daylight hour in June and July you are guaranteed to go home one tired puppy.

Accommodation
We will supply all the meals, no special orders, just good ranch cooking with the added flavour of ranch hospitality. Accommodation is available in our home or in two rustic cabins nestled in the hills within easy walking distance of the yard. Leave the cell phone at home and live the simple life.	Click to enlarge

Our guarantee is simple; we feel that we can show you a good time doing what we do every day. Weather permitting we can tailor a week to suit your interests, and we can all have a good time doing what most people only dream about. Rates

The price per person will be $1000.00 for 5 days or $1200.00 for a 7 day adventure. There is also 7% GST which must be added. All prices are in Canadian Dollars. Limit of 4 people per week.
